about an den. ..

AnDen.. . No, not referencing Incan agriculture, but our very own, Maui-Grown and Lahaina-Based band, AnDen.

“It’s [an den] something you hear everyday; everyone says, ‘an den where you going?’ or ‘an den what’s happening?’” says AnDen’s lead singer, songwriter, and uke player, Damien Awai.

AnDen, Awai says he is constantly looking forward, exploring the possibilities, and most important, embracing hope. With the release of their debut album HouseKatchaFaya, which exudes a sense of humor reflecting AnDen’s personalities, as well as politically and socially conscious lyrics relating to current events and relevance in our world today, it is clear this band, AnDen, has talent.

Awai says he is blessed to have been able to collaborate with some of Hawaii’s best musicians with reference to the HouseKatchaFaya project, including his very own band members; Brian Haia (lead rhythm guitar), Eddee Sebala (bass), Rick Bodinus (percussions), and Ivan Yadao (lead guitar). AnDen’s first of many albums proudly features artists, Mitch Kepa, Mark Kalawai’a, Tom Mamuad, Dave Varde, Jason Donez, Albert Kaina, Wilson Kanaka’ole, Alan Veleren, Dave Choy, and K-Avi…

Driven by skilled musicianship, with an eclectic mixture of Island, Rock steady Ska, and Latin fusion inspired rhythms, AnDen’s catchy beats are far-reaching, and diverse among their audience. Inspirations credited to Bob Marley, Earth, Wind, and Fire, Sly & the Family Stone, and so many more; AnDen is stimulated to entertain in such a unique way, we never really know, ‘what’s next’…

Since AnDen began performing all over venues of West Maui, they have expanded their talent, amplifying their vibes throughout Hawai’i, and occasionally the mainland. One thing is for sure, with the quick, growing demand for AnDen to entertain—this musically passion filled band is more than ecstatic to comply!
